The Hygienists
Ruth Davidson EDH (Glasgow 1991)

Born and brought up in Inverness Ruth left school following her Highers and moved to Edinburgh to train as a dental nurse at Edinburgh Dental Hospital after which she returned, fully qualified, to work at Raigmore’s Dental Department. After four years she then moved to Glasgow to train as a hygienist and was delighted to return to Inverness again to work with the Oral Surgeons and Orthodontists at Raigmore for three days a week. She started at Kingsmills in February 1992.

“The mix of general practice and hospital work keeps me interested and I still love my work 15 years on”. Married to Ali for 10 years Ruth loves to entertain in her Inverness home. She has been involved in Scouting for many years recently standing down as Akela of a local Cub Pack but is still an Area Leader involved in many activities including area camps and leader training.

“This is a very rewarding voluntary post which I like to think helps the young people of today and helps keep me young!”

Rosie Kelly EDH (Edinburgh 1992)

Born in Thurso Rosie moved with her family to Nairn, her Dad’s home town, aged two. She was educated in Rosebank Primary and Nairn Academy and, after leaving, she decided on a career in Dentistry and worked in an Inverness practice as a Dental Nurse to gain experience before moving to Edinburgh to start her Dental Hygiene course at Edinburgh Dental School.

After qualifying Rosie decided to stay in the city and worked as a Hygienist in general practice for 13 years before returning north again last year to live in Nairn and start at Kingsmills. She is kept busy in her new home.

“My spare time at the moment is mainly taken up with learning new skills in gardening and DIY! I do also enjoy being creative, making cards and dress making and sewing, and I also like to have an active social life and try keeping fit in the gym”.
